Webster High School Principal Joshua Hetfeld said Webster School administration is aware of the nationwide school walkouts some groups are promoting for high school students in the wake of the Parkland, Fla. school shooting.

A national walkout is set for Wednesday morning, March 14 on the one-month anniversary of the Parkland shooting. Another is planned in April on the 20th anniversary of the Columbine School shooting in Colorado.

On Tuesday, Principal Hetfeld issued the following statement:

“Webster Middle and High School are aware of the planned walkouts. Students who wish to participate in the walkout will be given a safe place to go on campus.

“The students will not need parent permission or will not be considered absent if they participate within the given timeframes of the national walkout.

"Local law enforcement will be on campus as an additional safety measure.”
